What if every moment of your life is a ceremony?
In the sacred reflection that is your existence
This moment will never happen again.
And yet;
It is infinity itself, expressed in a snapshot frame
capturing an angle of reflection that is preciously
and only to be
experienced by you.
This—all that you see and experience—
is All For You.
Perhaps there are things in your life that drain you, irritate you, or, in general, feel out of synch with your natural being. And to say the least, this can be frustrating to navigate.
Where is the peace, you may think, and why isn’t my life what I thought it ought to be by now?
What if I told you that you can become energized, yes, even by the external things that drain you, with a perspective shift? Through the perspective shift that is the title of this article, you are invited to shift into a richer, more present, and alive state of being. A state of being through which you’ll be propelled into doing things that are more of your excitement. And no, this is not by force, but by a softening into alignment.
By recognizing the beauty of what is, you create more beauty from that space; It is invited into your life because you are looking through its lens.
Defining “Ceremony”
Generally, ceremonies are held to honor special occasions and sometimes chalk down to conventional rituals that don’t hold deep significance. They can be mainstream celebrations of standard life milestones; These, while a genuine joy for some, strike me as especially monotonous. Monotonous because they originate from societal standards of what something worthy of celebration is: Marriage ceremony, graduation ceremony, you know, the general things that are prescribed to us as successes in life. And no, I am not saying these things are not worthy of celebration, I simply do not subscribe to their limiting definition of what a ceremony is. These things are included in life, no? Well, if you’d like them to be, I, for one, to the great displeasure of my father, did not attend my college graduation ceremony.
Personally, coming from the view of plant medicines or other ceremonies that hold the intent to connect one with themselves and Source, a definition is born: A ceremonial experience is when one is taken on a deep journey within, one where sacredness is highlighted and permeates the experience. It is a communion with Source/ God/ Great Spirit/ All That Is.
You may be thinking, what does it mean, practically speaking, by “what if every moment of your life is a ceremony?”
It means that when you are at work, whether you love your job, hate your job, or reside somewhere in between, it is a ceremony. It is the sacred now. It is a special occasion. Can you recognize this? Can you recognize that this experience will never happen again exactly as it is? Can you recognize that you drew it into your field so that, through its reflection, you can come to know yourself at a depth that is so rich?
What happens when you treat any experience like a ceremony? Well, you recognize the sacred in it. To me, a ceremony is the recognition of the sacred within now. What happens then? You recognize the opportunity in a situation that, just a moment ago, may have felt dire or simply not as opportunous as before.
Focus & Perspective
By shifting your perspective in this way, you invite in the sacred. You initiate the ceremonial presence. You gain life force because you no longer choose to engage in draining thinking and draining energy focus. Yes, even in a situation or workplace that you don’t love, you are in control of your focus. So while you are working a job you may not like, yes, take that as information, take in the contrast, but don’t drag this thought of “I dislike my job” for too long.
Focusing on the problem will drain your energy and create blindness to the opportunities that are present for you in the moment. So long as you are in a constricted mind frame, you are blocking creativity and insight. Feeling stuck or caged in somewhere is, in itself, an opportunity to recognize and embody more of your power. It is the sacred void that asks you to look within.
You always have what you need for your life path. This, you—here—now, in this moment, are on your path… aren’t you? There are no mistakes in how your life is right now. So join the ceremony. The prayer. The dance. We are with you. The sacred, the fun, the holy, the divine—reflecting back the whole of you right now.
I had this article downloaded at work when I shifted my perspective to the one I am describing here. I noticed I had been doing a lot of complaining about my job, and as a result, feeling more and more drained. If you find yourself complaining, like I did, don’t judge yourself for this! A lot of people do this. Just recognize what you are thinking and focusing on, and how this affects your energy.
As I write about the sacred, in each moment I am invited to embrace it… in all its candid mess and beauty. In all the times there is what the mind likes to call “mess” or triggers, there is an unfolding.
There is so much available to us when we choose to open up to the sacred ceremony of life; Life then opens up to us as it sees we have joined the dance. This is not to say life was ever closed to us… It simply reflected our openness to what we thought could be possible. Remember, the sacred is the joy.
The sacred is your spark,
of the life, of the awe, and of the remarkable
Truth of your existence.
